Gleichen’s St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is rich with history. Construction was started by Archdeacon Timms in 1885. The first service was held on November 30, 1886. At that time, the church was under the Diocese of Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. It is now in the Calgary Diocese and members belong to the Wheatland Parish. In November 2005, the church will celebrate 119 years of services. The church has been designated an historical site by the Province of Alberta.
